By dissipating the residential vitality within the ecological flow network, Suture Island interchanges the natural setting of New York Upper Bay and the synthetic beauty of the “Second Central Park“.
The channel excavation of Governors Island is the innovative approach to the proposal where an separated ecological marshland is preserved to buffer the current collision from the ocean environment, thus to protect the student community from the disturbance of the environment.
The project was done in the background of a research studio co-hosted by CASE program and SOM in New York City. Multiple sustainable building technologies were integrated in the studies and design.
